It's time for me to go ....

Hello students and staff!

How are you all? I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by, but now sadly it's time for me to go.

I remember my fist day in CEIP San Miguel, like it was yesterday. You all made me feel so welcome and I knew straight away I was going to love working here. These last 8 months have really been special for me. I have enjoyed working with you all and I hope you too have enjoyed your Science lessons with me!

I will take back to England with me many special memories, experiences and most importantly all the wonderful friendships that I have made here. You are all fantastic students and I know that you will go on to do great things. Thank you also especially to all the staff for all your help and friendship, you are an amazing team!

I won't ever forget the fun times we've shared together. CEIP San Miguel will always have a special place in my heart. This isn't a goodbye because I am SURE that we will meet again one day. But for now, keep up the great work, study hard and have fun!

A big hug to everybody,

Nabihah

Speaking fun with 4°B

Today, class 4B have worked superbly on our topic of Jobs in Andalusia. Their attitude and contribution in class has been amazing! Today we focused particularly on our speaking skills, working on pronunciation and sentence structure. We then played a fun word game to help us remember the key words. Students had to give their classmates clues to the mystery word on the screen. They had 45 seconds to guess as many words as they could. They were very fast at guessing and gave their classmates excellent clues!

From when I first worked with them all the way back in September, 5 months ago, many of them were quite shy! But now they have come out of their shells and have improved greatly in their English Speaking and Writing skills.

Well done 4B, great work today. I enjoy working with you.

Keep up the good work!

Fun with Planets!

I am so very proud of 3rd Grade this week, they have made an excellent, colourful display about the Solar System! Doesn't it look brilliant? They are all artists! We've been learning different facts about the Planets, practicing our English speaking skills and building on our vocabulary.

We also enjoyed singing along to the Planets song. They had to listen very carefully because the song had all the hidden answers to the questions. Some of which are below! But - no surprises, they got all the answers right! How about you, can you find some of the answers?

Which planet is the biggest?

Which planet is the closest to the Sun?

Where do we live?

Which is the brightest planet?

Which planet has rings?

Click here to listen to the song!

Well done third grade, excellent work! :)

Busy Bees in San Miguel!

Hello everyone!

How have you all been? Did you have a good New Year?

This last month has been full of educational fun!

Students in 6th Grade have been learning about different types of energy and its uses. We've explored renewable and non-renewable energy sources, types of power stations and we've looked at how energy can be transferred and stored.

In small groups they worked together to complete the Energy Grid Quiz, which was a great way to learn the new topic vocabulary. Everybody had a lot of fun! Energy is something that we use everyday; at home, at school or even if we're playing with our friends. We need energy for almost everything and now 6th Grade can tell you all about it!

In 3rd Grade we've been learning about plants. They are all such budding young learners! We all made a plant flip book which helps us to remember the different parts of a flower. They looked absolutely fantastic! We also learnt some actions to help us understand how a seed grows into a flower. Do you remember them?

Do you know how many times the Earth travels around the Sun in a year? Students in 5th Grade can tell you as they are currently learning about our big blue planet! Space is such a fascinating and important subject. We've been learning about The Earth, The Moon and The Sun. Together we produced some excellent revision posters which includes all the key vocabulary and phrases from the unit. We also learnt a funny planetary mnemonic to help us remember the order of the planets.
"My Very Energetic Mum Just Swam Under North Pole."
(Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune)
Can you think of another one?

See you soon!

Photosynthesis and Plants Rap!

Hello again!

This week 5th Grade have had their musical hats on and have put together a great rap about their unit on photosynthesis and plants. What a better way to learn than through a little bit of fun! They worked really hard to remember all the lyrics and produced some excellent posters. Their pronunciation was also superb :) Well done 5A!!

Enjoy!

Christmas!

Christmas is fast approaching and only around the corner but students at San Miguel are still learning and working hard! This week in Science, 6th Grade have started the topic of reproduction. Now, at times this can be quite an embarrassing topic for us all to learn, but 6th grade have shown a really mature attitude and have been enjoying the various activities that we have done in class together. Lots of giggles as well as lots of learning!

Each student made a vocabulary flipbook. This is an excellent way to learn and practice new vocabulary in English. It's also a great way to revise! If you forget the word in English, you even have the Spanish reference inside too! Take a look, what do you think of our flipbooks?

Next week the students will take part in a Science Quiz to see how much they have learnt about this unit! Who do you think will win the quiz? The boys? Or will it be the girls? We shall have to wait and see!

How many points will each team win?

1 month already!

Thursday will mark my first month of teaching at San Miguel School. The time has flown by! I've gotten to know both the students and teachers very well and each grade is an absolute pleasure to teach. Class 5°A recently did some group work and created excellent posters on Unit 1 for revision. They used various colours and materials to make their revision more interesting and fun to read!

Revision posters with 5th Grade!
With 1st grade we reviewed everything they have learnt about the 5 senses. They are now experts! They too made some colourful 3D posters about the different kinds of materials we can feel. In class we did a fun activity where the students had to guess the smell, they really enjoyed themselves and managed to name all the different scents correctly!

Finally this month ended with Halloween! It was a great day, full of various activities as well as traditional Halloween activities, such as apple-bobbing, which provided an opportunity to learn new English vocabulary in a fun way. The 'What can you feel?' boxes enabled students to practice their descriptions! The costumes looked fantastic and the activities were thoroughly enjoyed by both the staff and students.
Apple bobbing, a traditional Halloween activity.
Can you catch those apples only using your mouth?!
Brilliantly scary costumes in 1st Grade.

What can you feel inside the box?
 Is it soft, hard, rough?
Is it Spaghetti?
