2nd Erasmus meeting: SDG

 En la mañana de hoy, hemos realizado nuestro segundo encuentro virtual con los socios europeos de nuestro proyecto erasmus Food for the future.

Hemos estado trabajando a fondo los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible en los temas de ciencias y además hemos podido ver los vídeos y jugar con al juego de mesa que hemos recibido desde Brujas (Bélgica). Después de todo esto, hoy era el momento de evaluar lo aprendido así que... hemos participado en un kahoot que ha preparado Chipre.

La cita era a las 10:15 hora española. En grupos de 4, los alumnos han participado con un equipo en la jornada con los otros chicos y chicas.

España ha comenzado ganando pero finalmente, tras 15 preguntas, la victoria ha sido para Bélgica. Pero no hay que rendirse. Como ha dicho Joost, ellos eran más en número así que había más posibilidades. Lo que sí que nadie nos puede quitar es todo lo aprendido sobre este tema además de poder participar con nuestros compañeros/as de Bélgica y Chipre.

¡Pronto estarán aquí! ¡Qué ganas!

Así fue la semana de inmersión lingüística

El tiempo pasa volando y ya estamos de vuelta de esa maravillosa semana de inmersión lingüística que hemos disfrutado en Mohernando (Guadalajara).

Hemos aprendido muchas cosas, reído con los compañeros e incluso llorado al separarnos de nuestros nuevos amigos y amigas de Jumilla con los que hemos compartido esta semana.

Es imposible resumir en unas palabras lo vivido allí pero sirva de muestra este pequeño vídeo.

Hola a tod@s:

El día de ayer fue bastante intenso. El domingo comenzó temprano ya que el autobús nos esperaba a las 9 en la piscina. Con nuestras mochilas y maletas (o maletones) cargadas de ilusión, pusimos rumbo a Guadalajara donde nos esperarían 7 días de inmersión lingüística en el que conoceríamos a otros 25 compañeros/as de un colegio de Jumilla en Murcia.

Tras la llegada y el examen de nivel, llegó la merienda, reparto de habitaciones, hacer las camas, instalarnos con los nuevos compañeros, la ducha, la cena y... ¡a dormir!

El día hoy... ¡va sobre ruedas!

Electric circuit - 6th graders

La tarea final del última de tema de naturales ha consistido en la creación de un circuito eléctrico. Tras superar algunos problemillas con cables, baterías y otros elementos, finalmente el alumnado hizo unas brillantes exposiciones en inglés.

Otra forma de enseñar

El saber no ocupa lugar así que un grupo de maestras de este cole, movidas por el afán de mejorar su enseñanza ha visitado distintos centros europeos con diversos objetivos.

Llegó mi turno y con él cerramos las movilidades shadowing. En esta ocasión mi misión ha sido aprender todo lo referente a las tecnologías aplicadas en la educación. Para ello, he tenido la suerte de encontrar a Joost, un coordinador TIC en la ciudad de Brujas (Bélgica) que es el encargado de coordinar a otros responsables de hasta 7 centros educativos. La semana ha sido muy fructífera.

Gran cantidad de recursos materiales y unos excelentes profesionales son los que he encontrado en esta preciosa ciudad.

¡Estamos de enhorabuena!

Estamos de enhorabuena en los grupos de 6º.

Tras elaborar un proyecto y conseguir puntuaciones de aquí y allá, nuestro colegio ha sido seleccionado para realizar un Programa de Inmersión Lingüística para el alumnado de 6º. Este programa lo organiza el Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte.

Previo al viaje, todos los alumnos/as serán partícipes de las actividades preparatorias que allí se desarrollarán. Son 25 las plazas que hay para realizar el viaje. Saldremos el día 4 de Junio y volveremos el 10 de Junio. Iremos a un pueblecito de Guadalajara a trabajar el proyecto realizado por la seño Virginia y la seño Ana.

A la vuelta de nuestro viaje, los alumnos/as contarán a sus compañeros/as todo aquello que hemos realizado.

Las pasadas semanas mis alumn@s de Natural Science realizaron unas maravillosas exposiciones en su tarea final del tema de los Reinos Animales.

Se reunieron en grupos de 4 ó 5 y se pusieron manos a la obra. Tanto las exposiciones como los murales, todo ello en inglés, quedaron maravillosas.

Second Blog Post - Holidays, Space, and Geography

I´ve now been teaching at C.E.I.P San Miguel for 4 months! I´m starting to really like my classes and I can honestly say that I´m very impressed with the kids level of english which is constantly improving. Since my last blog post (2 months ago) I have helped teach a huge range of topics, ranging from Space and Geography to Economics and Healthy Diets. In this blog post I´m going to highlight some of the projects that I helped create and teach.


Layers of the Atmosphere - with Class 4A and 4B.

At the moment we are studying the layers of the atmosphere in classes 4A/B. As part of this unit we put together a small flipbook which the children seemed to really love making. Attached below is an exmaple of one of the completed flipbooks, which contained alot of very important information and diagrams.

The Solar Sytstem - With class 5A and 5B

With class 5A/B I had the chance to help out and add my own input with the Solar System topic. This topìc was great to teach and was very practical. The children got involved with creating some great looking posters and models. Attahced below is some photos I took from some of the space models and posters which are proudly presented on the top floor. I helped mainly with the order of the planets poster which again I have attached below as the picture on the right..




The Earths Movement - With class 3A and 3B

Again this is a recently finished topic which was very interesting to teach. We created a poster which described the types of movements which the earth has, Rotating and Revolving. This unit was very fun and engaging to teach. Below is an example of one of the posters which was created! As part of this unit the children also learned about the different seas and oceans around the world as well as the different continents.






















The Economy - With class 6A 6B and 6C

With class 6A 6B and 6C we have been working on the economy in the last couple of weeks. The children have been very engaging when I have asked them questions in english on the topic and eager to learn. This was demonstrated in the recent Kahoot test that we did which involved 14 questions on the economy, 7 in Spanish and 7 in English. The children got on really well with this with some students even scoring 100%! I have attached the link for the Kahoot below where you can see the questions that were asked.

Tarea final: digestión y respiración

Os presento la tarea final del tema 1 que han realizado los grupos de 6º. En ella, han elaborado una maqueta del aparato digestivo o respiratorio y la han etiquetado en inglés y en español. Tras esto, han hecho la exposición en clase. Al final de la presentación podréis escuchar una de ellas en español y en inglés.

Día europeo de las lenguas en 6ºB

Aprovechando la clase de Cultura y Práctica Digital, hemos echado un vistazo a la página del Día Europeo de las Lenguas

En 6º B tenemos nada más y nada menos que 7 nacionalidades distintas: española, colombiana, mexicana, ecuatoriana, rumana, marroquí y china.

Por ello, hemos reflexionado largo y tendido sobre la importancia que tienen las lenguas y más aún en nuestra clase. Fruto de esa reflexión creamos este padlet en el que expresamos nuestras ideas.

Tasty Clil 2.0: HEALTHY SNACK AND COOPERATIVE RECIPES

El proyecto 'Tasty Clil 2.0" está llegando a su fin este curso escolar. Los niños han trabajado a través de las TIC, entornos colaborativos entre estudiantes y docentes, los intereses del programa ExpoMilano 2015 y hábitos de vida saludables en la alimentación y cultura culinaria europea.

Os dejamos este resumen de las últimas tareas de nuestro alumnado de 6º a través del Twinspace del proyecto.

Tareas: 
1. Seleccionar algunos "snacks" saludables.
2. Elaborar la receta  en inglés de forma sencilla.
3. Publicarlo en nuestro blog de alumnado Kidblog.
4. Reenviar esta información a través del Twinspace del proyecto.
5. Grabar un vídeo con las tabletas por el alumnado preparando cada una de las recetas.
6. Subir estos vídeos finales al Twinspace para compartirlo.
7. Seleccionar dos recetas de nuestros socios italianos.
8. Preparar dichas recetas en clase y grabar nuevamente vídeos del producto final.
9. Skype y " chats-rooms" sobre la experiencia entre alumnado.
10. Evaluación final a través de un documento colaborativo de formulario Google. Resultados en:

TAIWAN PROJECT: LET'S TALK ABOUT SPRINGTIME IN OUR COUNTRIES

6th grade students have created these posters to explain to our friends from Taiwan how springtime is in Armilla. The main aim of the project is to integrate culture and English in our science lessons at the same time that they have an exchange with other students around the world. Here are the results:

Busy Bees in San Miguel!

Hello everyone!

How have you all been? Did you have a good New Year?

This last month has been full of educational fun! 

Students in 6th Grade have been learning about different types of energy and its uses. We've explored renewable and non-renewable energy sources, types of power stations and we've looked at how energy can be transferred and stored. 

In small groups they worked together to complete the Energy Grid Quiz, which was a great way to learn the new topic vocabulary. Everybody had a lot of fun! Energy is something that we use everyday; at home, at school or even if we're playing with our friends. We need energy for almost everything and now 6th Grade can tell you all about it!

In 3rd Grade we've been learning about plants. They are all such budding young learners! We all made a plant flip book which helps us to remember the different parts of a flower. They looked absolutely fantastic! We also learnt some actions to help us understand how a seed grows into a flower. Do you remember them? 

Do you know how many times the Earth travels around the Sun in a year? Students in 5th Grade can tell you as they are currently learning about our big blue planet! Space is such a fascinating and important subject. We've been learning about The Earth, The Moon and The Sun. Together we produced some excellent revision posters which includes all the key vocabulary and phrases from the unit. We also learnt a funny planetary mnemonic to help us remember the order of the planets.
